   Ottens Flavors celebrates its
   Quasquicentennial Anniversary

On May 19, 2009, Ottens Flavors celebrated its quasquicentennial anniversary (translation: its 125th year in business!) in grand style at its US headquarters in Philadelphia. Richard Robinson, CEO, began the celebration with remarks about both the past and the future.

Richard Robinson, CEO
“We remember all whose time and talent has helped Ottens realize this rare history of growth and achievement in the flavor industry. Your contribution has helped our contemporaries honor Ottens as the oldest flavor manufacturer in North America. Ottens continues today as a strong, healthy player in the industry with a confident eye on the future. With sales in almost 40 countries, Ottens carries on its mission to grow and innovate through change. It is change that is the dominant factor in society today. No sensible decision can be made without taking into account not only the world as it is, but the world as it will be. Ottens continues the legacy of quality and service and remains true to its core values of honesty and integrity – Quaker values from which Henry Ottens drew and built upon. This legacy continues to live out in each and every one of you, our global family.”

It was then that Betty Schlichter, grand niece of Henry H. Ottens, spoke of her uncle and his vision. “I am so very proud that the legacy of Henry Ottens lives on in each of you.”

The celebration was punctuated with a lush spread of gourmet foods, a cool jazz band and beautiful spring weather. Attendees included current employees from around the globe, retirees, members of the board of directors, family and friends. A sense of pride and accomplishment was clearly felt by all who attended.
